ADVANCED STUDENT HONOUR ROLL
Franchise Opportunities at Kumon

The Advanced Student Honour Roll (ASHR) is a list of students who are studying at an advanced level for their age. It is published four times a year. The Roll recognises and rewards those who have reached, first of all, Kumon's International Standard (the KIS) and then progressed beyond that, by six months, two years, three years and above.

How will I know when my child achieves the ASHR?
Your child's Kumon supervisor will let you know how your child is progressing, and when he or she reaches ASHR. You can ask for a time to speak with the supervisor about your child’s progress graph.

Your child's education will always be a powerful asset.
Essentially, in Kumon, there are three stages to developing students' independence.
  1. In the first stage, as students work towards Kumon's International Standard (KIS), students build up study habits, motivation, concentration and the capacity for self-learning. This can take around twelve months to achieve.

  2. As they move into the second stage, surpassing the KIS and reaching ASHR, students extend these skills and learn tenacity, patience, self-correction and planning skills. They have the satisfaction of being ahead of their school class in core skills, and their study skills make school work easier. In many ways, the challenge of the ASHR is as beneficial as the knowledge itself. The realisation that difficulties can be worked through and overcome builds students' character and perseverance.

  3. In the final stage, when students reach the high levels, they become independent learners. They have developed high level perseverance and concentration, tenacity, patience and planning ability.

It is when our students complete all three stages that they are ready to graduate. It is also when they complete all three that we like to think they are equipped with skills for life! They know how to learn.

We're serious about the potential of Australian and New Zealand students: Kumon’s awards.
In the ASHR award system, Kumon uses international standards that are the benchmark in over forty countries where Kumon is available. These students have advanced beyond their school curriculum in terms of the work they are doing in Kumon.

Your children are part of an interconnected world and deserve an award that fully recognises their achievements, knowledge and skill.
